I appreciate the mostly constructive criticisms. I hope you’ll read my second article on Objectivism, at least, which should be coming out this week or next, since in that one I focus on my main disagreement with Rand, drawing from Galt’s speech in Atlas Shrugged.
I don’t know how profitable it would be for me to sort through all your responses here since that would take us in a hundred directions. I’d rather see what your response is to my next one.
What’s most intriguing is that we seem to be committed to quite different secular worldviews, so it would be worthwhile to get to the bottom of our disagreement. It’s all in the service of finding the truth, right? That’s why I respect your largely impartial tone in responding to these criticisms. (Another Objectivist reader wasn’t so impartial.)
Maybe we could even debate the matter in a more formal way by email? In the past I’ve posted such fruitful exchanges on my Medium homepage. But first we should try to understand exactly where each of us is coming from, without stereotypes or condescension. It’s just a thought.
