I agree with your characterization, but they're outsiders, too, in that they're antimodernists (anti-progressives), like religious fundamentalists or Islamist terrorists. They're outsiders in the same sense that trolls live under bridges.

They're destructive rather than constructive outsiders. Not everyone can sublimate the pain that comes with being a social outsider.
