I agree that "subjective opinion" could be redundant. But there's still a commonsense distinction between objectivity and subjectivity, which isn't just an academic philosophical trick. You also moved the goalposts from objective to absolute truth.

I don't think objectivity is at odds with being provisional. On the contrary, scientific objectivity happens when scientists defer to the experiments rather than prejudging the results or clinging to dogmas.
