I agree that philosophers need to keep up with science. Analytic philosophers, at least, strive to do so. But philosophers might have fallen behind because of problems within science, such as the replication crisis in the soft sciences, and the dead end that may have been reached in theoretical physics (string theory). Some say that scientists needs to be more philosophical, to rethink some of their assumptions and thus to find a way through their impasse. In other words, physics might be ripe for another revolution.
