I agree that conservatives have exaggerated the scope or influence of wokeness, as a move in the culture war. And I'm not criticizing the pursuit of real social justice.

But I think it's one-sided to say that liberals or left-wingers haven't had a hand in mangling their standpoint by taking it too far.

I agree also that technology raises the fear of being held accountable for old misdeeds. But cancel culture becomes decadent when we lose our perspective and defer to technology. Just because the internet can be used in a certain way, doesn't mean all its uses are wise. What would stop us from harassing, say, comedians who are trying to be funny is a more well-rounded perspective, one less naïve and lame.
