I agree that both sides deserve harsh criticism, and I criticize both in my writings. But I think it's an oversimplification to say both sides are the same.

The circumstances faced by the overeducated, urban professional class and the undereducated, rural class of blue collar folks differ, as do their natural vices. I look at it as a yin and yang thing, as a clash between hyperfemininity and hypermasculinity. It's the worst of both worlds, to be sure, in the American society of the spectacle, but the worlds are quite different. We should be connoisseurs of vices, and pay attention to the rich variety of possible human failings.
