I agree, of course, that changes are happening all the time, including changes, as you say, in "mutation and selection." But the question for us is whether that selection is natural or artificial. In the case of our species I think it's both, and while other tool-using species may impact the selection of their genes by modifying their environment and setting up an artificial feedback loop, animals don't do this to the same degree as we doo. That may call for another taxonomic kingdom for personhood.
What you say about the importance of "the totality of creation" is interesting since it's similar to what I say elsewhere, taking this point from Buddhism and scientific cosmology. I interpret the cosmic totality in neo-Kantian and existential terms, viewing our conceptual distinctions as pragmatic maps that inevitably simplify. There's no simplification in the real, mind-blowing totality, though, and reflecting on these cognitive limitations is humbling.
