I agree. Just because conservatism isn't viable, doesn't mean that liberalism is utopian or guaranteed to be sustainable. Elsewhere, I've argued that humanism is tragically heroic, amounting to an existential revolt against natural norms. There's no reason to think that that revolt can be easily maintained without setbacks.
