I agree I may have oversimplified with that formulation. But you seem to be suggesting that capitalism's distinguishing features are all upsides, that there's no distinctive downside or social challenge that capitalism brings to bear. I doubt that that's so.

What I'm arguing here is that capitalism's progressive tendency itself is a downside since you can have too much of a good thing. Decadence, too, is democratized or universalized, so we end up with wokeness, mass infantilization, etc.
