I agree, but you're sort of stating the obvious, I think. I alluded to the sort of explanation you provide here when I pointed out that CNN is part of the access media. This means CNN can't afford to alienate its guests. So of course there was some negotiation with Trump. It's no accident the audience was filled with Trump supporters.
But there's another reason why my kind of questions wouldn't be asked: they provide a philosophical perspective that's anathema to mainstream society. Mainstream TV (including the corporate news) is about skating only on the surface of things, not getting to the bottom of anything. That's why the news segments are so short compared, for instance, to long-form podcasts which are outside the mainstream.
