I agree, but there's a middle ground. Avoiding the politically incorrect truth about how liberals despise Trump is one thing. Going out of your way to pretend you don't despite Trump, clutching your pearls when he's almost killed is another. There were plenty of alternatives that the elite liberals neglected, so these elites are pretty phony. That's mostly what I was saying here.

One thing Biden should have emphasized is that Trump has been the primary exacerbator of the rhetoric that would logically lead to political violence, so he was hoisted on his own petard with this shooting. I saw some Republican pundits on CNN specifically trying to discredit that point, maintaining that it's offensive. Yeah, it should offend these Republicans because it's obviously true. Again, it's just politically incorrect to blame the victim, but if Biden wants to win the election, he should be pinning this shooting at least partly or indirectly on Trump. There's no way around that.
