I address the threats of racism and of arrogance in other articles in this series, including in upcoming ones on the Nordic democracies and on Africa.

And in the first article I cite studies on the effects of cold and hot climates on human cognition.

I don't quite see the mechanism linking disease and autocratic politics. If you're sick you're sick. You stay in bed or maybe you die. How does that make you conservative or more violent?

The lowering of disease rates itself causes IQ to rise? How? Plenty of other factors must be involved. Of course, if a whole population is sick, it can hardly think or work as well.
