"Historical reportage"--what a joke that is. That author is a philosopher and an apologist, not a historian. Historians don't accept John, Acts, or the other gospels as "historical reports." So it's not "antagonism" that's the problem for you. It's objectivity and a critical, scientific way of understanding history and evidence.
