Hi, Dan. Where are the ad hominems? Maybe there's a little of that in the last section where I try to diagnose the weakness of your arguments, by suggesting that you want it both ways. But this article is obviously focused on your arguments, not on you. As is my other article, "The Inevitability of Atheism," which responds to another of your articles (link below).
I appreciate the good work you're doing, too, in criticizing the worst aspects of your religion. I agree with many of those criticisms, and of course you have the insider's perspective on that.
What baffles me is why you cling to that religion while acknowledging so many of its flaws. Clearly, you don't do so based on any of these ten arguments. You seem to me more of a preacher than a Christian philosopher, so I doubt you care much about rationally justifying your religious beliefs and practices. If you did, you'd feel bad about presenting such weak arguments.
But why remain a Christian when there's a world of alternative worldviews out there? What is it about Christianity specifically that you think deserves your total commitment? Is it just inertia or habit?
