He's saying "the monstrous nature of the earthly human realm...cannot and will not be changed." That's the exact opposite of how I think of humanism in Promethean or "Luciferian" terms. Humanists think of progress as precisely the transformation of the wilderness into something less monstrous. Progress is the humanization of the inhuman, and we don't regard ourselves as monstrous.
