Happy to oblige. I look forward to reading the rest of your series.

You wouldn't think of conservatism as savage because conservatives are much better liars than liberals, so their rhetoric and salesmanship are superior. They hide behind sanctimonious religious creeds and libertarian boasts about personal freedom. I prefer to bypass the propaganda and to focus like a laser on the systematic effects of their policies. What kind of society do conservatives implicitly, effectively prefer (regardless of how they sell their preferences)? That society is essentially the hierarchical, tyrannical one, with a corrupted minority permanently ruling over an oppressed majority, as in the worst stereotype of a lopsided dominance hierarchy in the animal kingdom.

My series tests my cynical hypothesis against the thought of some leading conservatives, such as Edmund Burke, Russell Kirk, Michael Oakeshott, Carl Schmitt, Leo Strauss, George Will, and so on. Soon I'll be posting a summary article to wrap up the series. You can find them all in my list of political articles (scroll down to the middle for the ones on conservatism):
