Good point. I've found that to be so with misanthropists who claim not to care about anything, but who instead evince greatly negative concerns.
Small things might have small values that wouldn't be eliminated automatically when compared to the large value of large things. Yet there's a psychological question of whether we small beings can sustain our self-confidence, given our glimpse of our irrelevance to the larger scheme.
Logical consistency is one thing. The psychological issue of fortitude is another.
