Exactly, so that was some salesmanship on the ancient Greek's part: "the unexamined life isn't worth living." Was Socrates executed because he was on to something or because he was like a deranged homeless person, haranguing productive, well-adjusted folks on the street corner?

There's a lot more to say about normality vs mental illness, though. As I recall, Plato even called the love of knowledge "divine madness."
