Evidently, you're no Sherlock Holmes. No, I don't want a dictatorship since I understand how power corrupts, which makes the concentration of power in a social system perilous. I've written a lot about that. Indeed, this is what distinguishes liberalism from conservatism: conservatives trust in natural dominance hierarchies, whereas liberals hold out the prospect of progress that depends on meeting some basic civil standards, such as the ones I talk about in the article.
Why is it ridiculous to say the ideal in politics would be for the government to be staffed by those who don't spend their whole life seeking power? I'm not saying they should be incompetent or ignorant about all relevant matters. But the emphasis on campaigning obviously invites all sorts of charlatans into the government. That's a flaw of liberalism, just as conservatism has its gross flaws (which I've written a lot about). And no, my criticisms of conservatism aren't so commonplace either:
