Don't you think postmodernists mean to stand back from cultures ironically, in judging them to be equally mired in social context? All cultures would come and go in history. But is the postmodernist escaping from modernity in deeming it ended? There's a detachment that comes with postmodern irony which amounts to an objectivity that's supposed to be forbidden. I doubt postmodernism could be both interesting and coherent. If it's coherent, it's trivial.
