Does it take magic to conjecture that because buildings evolved with various inventions, in the early stages of prehistory, people must have been living mainly in the wilderness since there would have been few artificial structures available? Or that there couldn't have been much reliable accumulation of collective knowledge before the invention of writing? You're mistaking reasonable conjectures for magic.
