Do you live in a red, Republican state? Are those "authentic," politically incorrect workers you know blue-collar workers and Trump supporters or nonvoters? (Or are you American in the first place? I can't recall whether you've specified.)

I'm sure there are many blue-collar workers just trying to get by and not taking much part in the more sophisticated, elite ideologies and pop cultural fictions. But these lower-middle class types aren't necessarily authentic in the existential sense. There are blue-collar delusions too, including religious ones and currently in the US, of course, the cult of Trumpism.
