Dissecting the good will of others? No, I dissect the causes of harmful religion and of harmful secular society. Not even the worst villain typically thinks he or she is villainous. We all survive on fictions and illusions to boost our confidence. We like to be the stars of our show, and we prefer to think we're the good guys, no matter what we do.
Even if we disgrace ourselves by indulging in absurd religious beliefs and practices that were once rationalizations for tyrannies, as in medieval Christendom, or even if our secular progress is destroying the world's ecosystems and we're torturing and slaughtering untold animals in factory farms, we maintain that we're the heroes of the story. But real heroes are few and far between.
