Certainly, Trump's supporters are prone to scapegoating some so-called outsider races. But they scapegoat them to avoid taking responsibility for their economic hardships in the rural areas. So the racism is consistent with a backlash against the establishment and the managerial class that's prospered under the same regimes and norms that have hollowed out the middle class.

As to whether Trump will lose, I'm making no predictions either way because it's too close to call.
