By some standard measures, the American economy is doing well, or as well as can be expected, given the threat of inflation from the pandemic. Those economists' tools may themselves be misleading. But I suspect that many Americans think their economy is doing poorly because the Republicans are far, far, far, far better at messaging than the Democrats.
