By saying Trump's the "best" nominee, I mean mainly that he's the most fitting and effective, given a cynical take on politics. I don't mean that America would be immediately better off for having Trump as its leader for a second time, or that the tradeoff would be worth it. I mean that America might deserve Trump, or that perhaps the country needs this reckoning with authoritarianism to reestablish its faith in liberal principles the hard way.
