But "myths" refers to the stories, not to the practices or institutions, whereas "religion" covers both. "Myth" might better replace "creed" or "scripture," but some religious texts don't even rise to the level of myths, or of existentially deep fictions, such as Christianity's pseudo-historical records, the gospels.
