But is an economy like a horse? Riding a horse doesn't change your inner nature much, whereas excelling in business may be corrupting. Your analogy might be flawed, then, as analytic philosophy would point out.
The Nordic countries are indeed socially grounded and united, though, because their populations are small and not so ethnically diverse. It may be only a matter of time (of generational change) for those countries to merge with the neoliberal climate of global society.
But I agree that we should look for a more balanced way of life. The question is whether the Nordic model would suit everyone, including larger, more diverse countries.
