But I'm assuming the correctness of scientific models of nature, and I'm taking into account historical knowledge too. So I posit not just the modern way of dealing with natural reality, but the religious way, and the latter would include Stone Age or other animistic, holistic, or mystical strategies. Elsewhere, I call these the strategies of socialization (personifying nature to feel more at home in it), and of objectification or artificialization (technologically transforming nature to make it less alien and indifferent).
