But China is being paid back: China is propping up the US economy to enable Americans to keep buying Chinese merchandise. Also, as I suggest, China may be supporting the US economy to help infantilize Americans so they'll be ill-equipped to grapple with Chinese Machiavellianism.

I suspect that Western neoliberal technocrats would be happy with at parts of the Chinese surveillance state. There are shared global interests in reinforcing governmental monopolies on power, especially after the rise of transnational corporations. But American individualism runs deep, as does Chinese collectivism in those respective countries.
