Assuming you're not a docetist, to say that Jesus was born of the spirit is only to say that he was enlightened: his level of consciousness was raised to encompass spiritual matters or our existential situation. Like everyone, though, he had a mind and a physical body. His brain, too, was divided between the cerebral cortex and the older, more animalistic parts.
We all have the potential to be "sons" or "daughters" of God in the sense that we can all enlighten ourselves and overcome some of our amoral inclinations. And it's only the inferior kind of Christianity that says Jesus was metaphysically unique. Gnosticism and Eastern Christianity emphasize our common divine potential. That was the point of my quotations. The New Testament shows Jesus struggling with his nature too.
