As far as I'm aware, the models hang together in those other sciences since they're united by an overarching theory. So the special sciences aren't defined by eclecticism. Post-neoclassical economics lacks that consensus because of the politicization. Economists are more divided than are biologists or chemists.

Economics would be better compared with theoretical physics which is likewise undergoing a crisis because of the lack of empirical support for its farfetched mathematical answers to some of its ultimate questions. It's hard to test which farfetched mathematical model might be onto something in theoretical physics, just like it's hard to test macroeconomic speculations.
