Are you talking about the childlike, enchanted view of a magical world which adults grow out of? I've written an odd hypothesis that the technosphere may be meant unconsciously to vindicate childlike animism. Prehistoric people perceived the world as being full of meaning and importance, and we make it so by replacing the wilderness with a programmed artificial paradise that's actually at our beck and call, rather than just appearing to be full of a society of spirits with whom we can socialize (as in animism).
