Are you talking about the ancient aliens hypothesis? There's a rationalist tradition of naturalizing miracle claims. I agree that they can be understood in different ways, and that our empirical knowledge is limited, as it raises questions with every answer we find. But I don't see that as a reason to confuse one genre with another. The mistake is to assume that science itself will be spiritually fulfilling, without the need for philosophical or theological interpretation. These disciplines have different epistemic standards.
