Are you saying the search for infinite growth is natural or artificial, based on an inherent absolute or a cultural ideal? The stability of nomadic hunter-gatherer life for tens of thousands of years suggests imperialism is artificial/cultural. So are you suggesting that we should prefer natural absolutes to human ideals? Without committing the naturalistic fallacy, though, can you show why nature should be esteemed, given the abandonment of all artificial ideals?

Do absolutes, as you use the term, have inherent value? The prouder we are of ourselves as civilized primates, the more negative nature (the wilderness) will seem.
