Are you saying that antelopes have a cultish way of looking at the world? For me, the basic point here is about neo-Kantian epistemology. The terrain always outstrips the map, so when we become emotionally attached to our models or representations, despite their simplicity, we're effectively cultists or idolaters. And when the cult catches on, it becomes a mainstream culture.

Animals may have mental representations, too, and they likely oversimplify their environment. But human mental representations are likely more elaborate.
