And yet we should expect that the government of a free country would have more faith in its voters. If Americans can't handle the truth about the nature of reality, why should they be trusted to govern themselves via their elected representatives? I suppose they could be trusted in that respect if their political decisions don't matter because the two parties are effectively very similar.
