Again, you seem to be rephrasing the point that life clashes with the environment. We care about ourselves because we're driven to survive, whereas the rest of the world is indifferent to our survival. Egoism is the self-interest of most of our goals. But the environment has no goals, so naturally we come into conflict with the world.
